Famous DJ and MC Peter “Mashata” Mabuse was killed after he finished a performance in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria on Sunday morning.
The DJ was driving in a car with his friend when gunmen attacked him.
He was rushed to the hospital but later died.
The family confirmed the passing of their son in a statement.
“It is with great sadness and sorrow that we inform you of the ultimate passing of our beloved son, uncle, brother and colleague, Mr Peter ‘Mashata’ Mabuse.”
The DJ’s manager, Gugu Ngubeni said:
“The family is appreciative of all the messages of support and condolences that have started to flow in and humbly request that they be given the space and time to deal with the trauma.”
“The family representative will keep you posted on both the memorial and funeral service during the course of the week.”
