Khulu was born on 6 April 1982 in Soweto, Johannesburg, Gauteng province in South Africa. Born in Soweto, he currently resides in Johannesburg. He is fluent in English, Afrikaans, isiZulu, isiXhosa and isiSetswana.

He was married to fellow actress Mona Monyane. They married in 2016 and spend four years together with two children. His second baby Amani-Amaza Wamazulu Skenjana was born on 16 November 2017 and died seven days after the birth. His eldest daughter is Ase-Ahadi Lesemole Mamphai Skenjana who was born in August 2016. Mona broke the news on her Twitter page and explained the pair couldn’t continue as a couple.

Career of Khulu Skenjana

Khulu had a starring role as Kumkani in the SABC1 mini-series Entabeni (2008), which was part of the channel’s “Shakespeare in Mzansi” strand. His first break in acting came with a role in the feature film Jerusalema. Other films he has acted in include Zama Zama, 48, Sniper Reloaded, Skin and Invictus. He played the role of Mandla in the SABC2 mini-series Noah’s Ark from July to August, 2008 and in 2010 he played the role of David Tabane in the SABC2 drama series The Mating Game and Thomas in the SABC2 youth drama series Hola Mpinji.

Khulu also had a cameo role in the NBC drama series The Philanthropist, in 2008. Other television series he has acted in include Sokhulu & Partners, Rhythm City, Generations, Binnelanders, Hola Mpinji, A Place Called Home and Jozi-H. In 2013 he had starring roles in two SABC1 drama series: the second season of Intersexions and the fashion-themed drama Tempy Pushas.

Rumors about Khulu’s Relationship

Though the Scandal! actor vehemently denies being a taken man, sources say he paid lobola for his girlfriend of about two years Kholeka Nxumalo in June. Khulu (42) and Kholeka are also said to be expecting a baby together.He got divorced from actress Mona Monyane in 2020.

“This is not true. I find it funny that last week Mona announced that she’s getting married and now I’m getting calls. No, this is not true,” Khulu said. A source close to Khulu and Kholeka said they were in love and couldn’t wait to become husband and wife.

“They met in 2020 and fell in love the first day they saw each other. They pursued a relationship shortly after that,” said the source. “They have been together since then and are now adding a third member to their small family. “They are expecting in the next few weeks and Khulu went to pay lobola to Kholeka’s family on 16 June.”

The source also spilled the news that Khulu’s divorce had allegedly not been finalised yet.“They are still fighting over some issues. Unfortunately, Kholeka was also dragged into it but their love is strong. They believe they will get through this together,” said the mole.
