Yonda Thomas plays the role of Lelethu Malinga on Generations The Legacy. Lelethu, a younger brother to Detective Dali Malinga (Andile Nebulane), is an investigative journalist who joins cartels and the underworld to expose them.

Introduced on Generations The Legacy season 8 as a mystery patient, he was placed under the care of Dr Sphe Moroka before discharging himself.

The Award-winning actor Yonda has not had formal acting training; he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration and has roles in numerous school plays and productions. He made a television breakthrough as Mvelo Nobela in the SABC1 drama series Fallen in 2011.

Over his acting career, Yonda played roles in popular soapies and films, including Isibaya, Rhythm City, Isidingo, Muvhango and The River. He recently played a starring role in the Netflix drama How to Ruin Christmas: The Wedding.

Happily married to Doctor Mumtaaz Emeran, Yonda is a stepfather to a 15-year-old Emeran’s son. Emeran revealed that when the two met, she told him she had a six-year-old son and was shocked by his response.

When Yonda and I first met, I told him that I had a six-year-old son, and I’d understand if he didn’t want to stick around. His response was: “Now we both have a 6year old son”, And that was the beginning of a true love story.

He joined Generations The Legacy cast to replace Siyanda Khoza (Kay Sibiya), who left the soapie to join The Wife cast. According to Generations publicist Nandipha Pantsi, Lelethu billed to stir controversy in the soapie storyline.
