Watch: Masechaba Ndlovu’s melodious voice stuns Mzansi as she records upcoming single Vela

Masechaba Ndlovu’

Who would've thought the media personality could hold a note?  stunned Mzansi when she shared a video of herself singing in the studio. She can sing, and nobody anticipated her voice to be so melodic as we know her as more of a speaker. She has experience with news reading, television presenting and radio presenting. Previously her voice in the media has been bold and affirmative.

Her upcoming single is highly anticipated since nobody expected it, and so far, she sounds good. Most of the music produced in Mzansi now is amapiano. As much as the trending genre sounds excellent, people crave different genres and unique fresh sounds. Her upcoming single will be titled Vela, and she's featuring The Real Landlords. On the lyrics she says, “Sikelela, siyakubiza, siyakuthanda, siyakuncuma, siyakudinga, siyaphela, sokwanele, siyakudinga Nkosi.”

Her lyrics mean ‘ God, please guide and protect us, we call upon you, we love you,  we're dying, it's enough, we need you, Lord ‘. She might be talking about the sudden surge of celebrities breaking or people dying. As much as the song is dedicated to God, it's not gospel music. Her song sounds like African folk music or jazz. Her sound is definitely for the more refined palette.

Masechaba in the media

Masechaba broke into Mzansi's entertainment industry as a model in her younger days. She later felt she could contribute more to the space than just her face and body. She became a television presenter for current affairs shows like The Big Debate. She then hosted other informative shows like One Day Leader and Afro Showbiz.

She was also a radio presenter alongside Mo Flava on the Metro FM drivetime show. In the year 2020 month of March, Minister of the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa announced Masechaba as the spokesperson for the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture.

's new beginnings

Masechaba is now using the Ndlovu surname, her mother's surname. She explained her reason to change as a way to embrace her identity. She also came out to the public about her new journey of becoming a Sangoma.

Her new direction of being a musical artist is probably linked to her calling of being a traditional healer. Many people saw traditional healers can directly speak to ancestors and God. The closest thing to God is art, and therefore, it explains why many artists become sangomas.
