Thembeka Shezi ‘Masasa Mbangeni’ from Scandal is one of the actors in Mzansi who slew an evil villain role. Soapie lovers will forever know Masasa Mbangeni as evil Thembeka Shezi, who almost drove Quinton insane with her cruel tactics.

Masasa Mbangeni held the role of Thembeka Shezi from 2013 to 2016 before she exited. Just when fans thought Quinton had gotten rid of Thembeka forever, she returned in 2020 under the pretence of being chronically sick and dying.

However, most fans of the show called it that her Miss goody-two-shoes character was a lie. It later came out that she was lying. The writers killed off her character six months after her return, and the actress confirmed on her social media pages that the character was dead and not coming back, not even as a ghost. Her rival, Mthunzi Mayisa, killed Thembeka Shezi.

The South African actress received nominations for her role in Scandal in 2014 and 2015, and she won the award in 2015. This year, she felt overwhelmed with happiness when she was nominated for the best-supporting actress at the SAFTAs even after the character’s death.

Masasa Mbangeni debuted on our Tv screens when she landed a guest role on Silent Witness as Eunice and Egoli as Jackie’s assistant. Masasa landed a role in the film Machine Gun Preacher in 2011. In 2013 she joined Scandal as Thembeka. She landed roles in Thola and Harvest as Celia.
