Cebo Mthembu, who plays Detective Nyawo on Uzalo, hangs out with aspiring South African President Duduzane Zuma. Nyawo posted an image of the pair clad in similar black suits and attended a wedding in Nkandla.

Hailing from KwaZulu Natal, the ANC – Jacob Zuma faction stronghold, Cebo is one of the Durban based Mzansi actors and staunch supporters of President Jacob Zuma. He threw his weight behind Jacob Zuma during his campaigning trails, performing on his rallies in KZN and beyond. When the former president got arrested, Detective Nyawo on Uzalo was one of the vocal celebrities who called for his release.

Uzalo actors have a strong bond with the Zuma family; Stained Glass TV contracts them to perform on the SABC 1 soap opera. The production company, which owns Uzalo and Durban Gen, Stained Glass TV, is owned by President Jacob Zuma’s daughter Gugulethu Zuma-Ncube hence a strong bond between the Zuma family and cast members.

Actress Noxolo Mathula who plays the role of Lily Dongwe on Uzalo is believed to be one of many daughters of former President Jacob Zuma. After posing for a photo inside president Zuma’s Nkandla homestead, she triggered the rumour and captioned it “with my father.”

Cebo is a man of many talents; he is an actor, singer, poet and electrical engineer who works for Eskom in real life. He initially scored the Uzalo gig as an extra at the police station; after impressing Uzalo producers, Nyawo was incorporated into the main cast and never looked back. Famous for his English jargon signature, he quickly becomes a household name and why many look forward to the next Uzalo episode.

Popular among the youths, Duduzane Zuma was advised to make Nyawo one of his campaign managers to realize the dreaming of taking the most coveted political position on the land.
