The management of Cape Wools SA Bursary is calling on all eligible students to apply for an ongoing bursary. Application is now open for students to apply for Cape Wools SA Bursary.
The Cape Wools Bursaries is designed by Cape Wools SA as an effort to recognize three major elements in creating a wool industry that is viable, profitable, and sustainable: education, training, and development. The company realizes its role in representing South African Wool Industry Forum along with their interests.
The CWSA Executive meeting was held on November 27, 2007, during which the Pecci Family had come to a decision to make available a bursary fund for a total of R200000. The seed money was allocated for the bursary in the hope of drawing in more potential skills and talents to the industry. The Wool Industry Bursary Trust was founded by the CWSA-supported Cape Wool Trust as a means to provide financial support for individuals considering taking a potential career in the wool industry.
Bursary is being granted to select individuals so that said individuals can continue on with their study at a proper university or suitable training institutions. The presence of this bursary is expected to provide candidates with an opportunity to prepare everything it takes to have a stable career in the industry of wool within South Africa, with the help from a variety of organizations and institutions, all of which are involved in the wool industry (from producing to selling to buying to testing, brokering, processing, and all the way up to exporting wool) alongside secondary industries.
The Board of Trustees of the Fund manages the Cape Wool Bursary Industry Trust Fund directly. The Cape Wools SA is an association that has been incorporated under Section 21 of the 1973 Companies' Act at 16 Grahamstown Road. An application for a bursary will be considered by the CWSA. Students who are looking to study in the field of Agriculture either at an Agricultural College or a tertiary institution will be given priority for the bursary (at least 50% of allocation).
For students studying at a tertiary institution majoring in Textile or fashion design, wool must be the primary focus and the final year collection must be presented in the form of garments of at least 50% wool. Student with a master's degree, who is granted this bursary, must focus on wool and wool's applications.
Cape Wools SA Bursary Requirements
- The applicant must meet the admission requirements of the institution
- All academic results and reports must be submitted to CWSA as and when issued to the recipient.
- The recipient might be called for an interview, they should make themselves available to meet with CWSA when requested.
- All applicants must complete the application form provided by CWSA, and attach all the required documents.
ADMINISTRATION
- The applicant must complete the prescribed application form (appendix 1) and submit it to CWSA.
- The bursary must be used solely for registration, tuition fees, books and materials, compulsory contributions, and accommodation provided by a registered tertiary institution.
- Documentary proof will be required to substantiate the expenditure of the amount granted in terms of this Agreement.
- CWSA reserves the right to reject an application or terminate a bursary if considered appropriate, in cases where the recipient receives funding from other bursary schemes.
- The recipient must furnish CWSA with certified copies of his/her ID and proof of permanent residence.
DURATION OF BURSARY
The bursary will be awarded annually and reviewed every six months. It is renewable if the recipient satisfies the bursary requirements and conditions.
BURSARY AMOUNT
The Cape Wools SA Bursary is awarded based on merit to qualified applicants and the CWSA decision is the final.
The following will be taken care of:
a) Registration & Tuition / course fees
b) Material fees and books
c ) Accommodation fees
The management will take into account access to funding from other bursaries. The bursary will also support practical on-farm training of up to a maximum of R20 000 per student, it will be paid to the farmer to defray costs.

The closing date for Cape Wools SA Bursary is on the 31st of October.

ABOUT CAPE WOOLS BURSARIES SOUTH AFRICA
The Cape Wools Bursaries can be applied for after filling out the official application form, which can be downloaded from a trusted source. Upon applying, an applicant must include the following compulsory documents: A certified copy of ID document; A certified copy of latest matric results if currently in matric; A certified copy matric certificate, if matric is completed; A certified copy of latest results from a tertiary institution, if currently at a tertiary level; Proof of registration at a tertiary institution on the letterhead; A certified copy of proof of residence; Proof of other bursaries applied for and A motivational letter through which an applicant can further explain the reason why they deserve the bursary.
Keep in mind that if an application letter fails to include any of the compulsory documents listed above, said application will be dismissed altogether.

Each cycle of the bursary comes with a closing date. Make sure that the application is submitted before the closing date as submission after said date is deemed unacceptable, resulting in the application being considered unsuccessful. So, an application must take into account this fact along with the fact mentioned before about the application having to include compulsory documents.
HOW TO APPLY CAPE WOOLS BURSARY PROGRAM
The Cape Wools SA was first founded on March 11, 1997. The company is a tax-exempt entity and it does not have share capital. The CWSA was formed in an attempt at continuing the endeavor of the company's predecessor, the South African Wool Board. The Board itself was established in 1946 and its work was exceptional in the promotion of the wool industry.
The Cape Wools SA can be said as a representation of the collective interests of all producers, buyers and processors, brokers and traders of the wool as well as small-scope stock breeders and labor and group of wool testing. The National Wool Growers Association of South Africa provides assistance for the Cape Wools SA to provide advisory services for the wool production industry. Through this, the wool produced in South Africa is much better in quality. The bursary that the CWSA offers is of partial type, meaning the money granted to a recipient must be used solely for furthering said recipient's educational progress such as to pay for registration and tuition fees, purchasing books, paying for accommodation, and sundry expenses.
These expenses must be supported by proofs. An applicant receiving fund from other sources my report to the CWSA immediately. The bursary will come to an end if: The recipient can't make it through an academic year and The recipient terminates studies before the completion of the full course.
Reimbursement might also be required for the recipient if they complete their studies but chooses a career outside the wool industry as this does not go along with the initial purpose of the bursary's goals. Generally speaking, an applicant must meet the following requirements to be deemed eligible for applying for the bursary: Of South African citizenship, proven with a certified copy; Of disadvantage sectors (will be prioritized, taking into account academic achievement from secondary educational level); Being able to follow through with necessary requirements stated by the institution;
Are You interested in pursuing studies in specific fields such as animal science (the focus should be on wool sheep science), disciplines of business or marketing, and the science or technology of wool textile and Being able to meet with the CWSA whenever required.
Again, failure in meeting any one of these requirements results in the application being unsuccessful so make sure everything checks out accordingly.
